Liz Watkin

Liz has a BA(Hons) in Contemporary Fine Art and a Post Graduate Certificate in Contemporary Fine Art.

Her work ranges from collage, mixed media, assemblage and abstract painting to recent experiments with monotype printing. Using layers to build meaning, colour and texture, Liz enjoys the freedom to work with the materials that most fully express her ideas, often developing those into a series that fully explores the narrative.

Liz has always loved found objects and fragments that are worn and weathered. These show signs of their past lives, make us wonder about their history, stir memories and feelings, and blend the passage of time, reality and imagination. This has parallels with the Japanese idea of Wabi Sabi, finding beauty in imperfection.
